Thank you to MDNOG and to the organizers, ITcare and Trabia, for putting together this event in Chișinău and for bringing the Moldovan network community into one room. It was a pleasure to take part.
On 8 and 9 October the RunCloud.AI team was in Chișinău for MDNOG 1, the first conference of the Moldova Network Operators Group, held at Digital Park. The team was represented by Petru Burdian, CTO, and Andrei Nicu, Senior DevOps Engineer, on both days.
What is MDNOG
MDNOG is a vendor-neutral, non-profit community of people who build and run networks in Moldova. It follows the model of long-running operator groups such as NANOG, RONOG and DENOG, and it is hosted and co-founded by ITcare and Trabia. Entry was free, with registration. The conference grew out of a first community meetup held on 12 June 2026.
Two days of operator topics
The programme was built around the problems network and infrastructure teams face every day. The first day was a full technical day on routing and BGP, DDoS protection, and optical and fibre networks. The second day moved to data-center fabrics, automation and interconnection, and closed with a panel on blocking requests.
The audience reflected that mix: ISPs and telecom carriers, hosting and cloud providers, data-center operators, bank and enterprise teams, IXP and peering staff, and students. Supporters included RIPE NCC, ICANN, the Global NOG Alliance and RONOG.
Why it matters to us
Managed Kubernetes, databases and compute only work as well as the network underneath them. We run infrastructure in Chișinău and Timișoara, so routing, peering, DDoS resilience and automation are part of our daily work, not side topics. A local operators group gives the Moldovan market a place to compare notes, agree on good practice and connect with peers and with international organizations.
Thank you to the organizers, ITcare and Trabia, and to everyone who made the first edition happen. We are glad to have been part of it, and we look forward to the next MDNOG.
